Total Time 25 minutes mins
- 4 salmon fillets about 6 oz each
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)
Prepare the glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic. Set aside.
Season the salmon:
Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
Sear the salmon:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Place salmon fillets skin-side down and cook for about 4–5 minutes, until golden and crisp.
Flip and cook for another 3–4 minutes.
Add the glaze:
Reduce heat to medium-low and pour the balsamic glaze mixture into the skillet.
Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes, basting the salmon until the sauce thickens and coats the fillets.
-
Don’t overcook: Salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork but remains moist inside.
-
For extra flavor: Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving.
-
Baking option: Bake at 400°F for 12–14 minutes, then brush with glaze halfway through.
-
Pairing ideas: Serve with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or wild rice.
-
Make it spicy: Add a pinch of red chili flakes to the glaze for a subtle kick.
