Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 oz each
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the glaze:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic. Set aside.
  • Season the salmon:
  • Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  • Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Sear the salmon:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Place salmon fillets skin-side down and cook for about 4–5 minutes, until golden and crisp.
  • Flip and cook for another 3–4 minutes.

Add the glaze:

  • Reduce heat to medium-low and pour the balsamic glaze mixture into the skillet.
  • Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes, basting the salmon until the sauce thickens and coats the fillets.

Serve:

  • Transfer salmon to plates and drizzle with extra glaze from the pan.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook: Salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork but remains moist inside.
  • For extra flavor: Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving.
  • Baking option: Bake at 400°F for 12–14 minutes, then brush with glaze halfway through.
  • Pairing ideas: Serve with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or wild rice.
  • Make it spicy: Add a pinch of red chili flakes to the glaze for a subtle kick.
