Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • 2 large heads iceberg or romaine lettuce rinsed & dried
  • 2 tomatoes thinly sliced
  • Small red onion thinly sliced

Spread:

  • ¼ cup light mayo
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle relish
  • Dash of salt & pepper

Instructions

  • In bowl, combine ground beef, seasoned salt, black pepper, and oregano. Form into 6 patties.
  • Heat grill or skillet over medium heat. Cook patties approx. 4 minutes on each side (or to your desired doneness).
  • During last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of American cheese so it melts.
  • Prepare spread: mix light mayo, ketchup, dill pickle relish, salt & pepper.
  • Assemble wraps: place each burger patty on a large lettuce leaf, add spread, tomato slice, red onion, then wrap lettuce over top.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Pick sturdy lettuce leaves; iceberg or romaine work well to support the burger.
  • Don’t overcook beef for moisture; cheeseburger flavor often comes from juiciness.
  • Let cheese melt slightly but don’t burn.
  • Spread can be made ahead and refrigerated.
  • Enjoy immediately so lettuce remains crisp.
