Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese softened
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed espresso cooled
  • 6-8 ladyfingers broken into small pieces
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings optional, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture:
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened mascarpone with vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Whip the Cream:
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Combine Mascarpone and Whipped Cream:
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined and smooth.
  • Layer the Mousse:
  • Spoon a layer of the mascarpone mixture into serving glasses or ramekins. Add a few pieces of ladyfingers soaked in the cooled espresso. Repeat the layers until the glasses are filled.
  • Dust with Cocoa:
  • Dust the top of each glass with cocoa powder using a fine mesh sieve.
  • Chill:
  • Refrigerate the mousse for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the mousse to set.
  • Garnish and Serve:
  • Before serving, top with dark chocolate shavings if desired. Serve chilled and enjoy.

  • For an adult twist, add 1-2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur to the espresso.
  • Ensure the mascarpone is at room temperature to avoid lumps when mixing.
