Ingredients

  • 1 17.3-ounce package frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 7-ounce container BUITONI® Refrigerated Pesto with Basil
  • ½ cup chopped hazelnuts or almonds
  • ½ cup BUITONI® Freshly Shredded Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll each puff pastry sheet into a 12-inch square on a lightly floured surface.
  • Spread pesto evenly over one sheet of pastry.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts and shredded parmesan over the pesto.
  • Place the second sheet of pastry on top and press lightly to seal.
  • Cut the layered pastry into twelve 1-inch-wide strips.
  • Twist each strip gently and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until light golden brown and crisp.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Nut options: Use hazelnuts for a rich, earthy flavor or almonds for a milder crunch.
Cheese alternatives: Freshly grated Pecorino Romano can replace parmesan for a sharper flavor.
Make-ahead: Assemble the straws and refrigerate for up to 1 hour before baking.

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; re-crisp in a 350°F oven for 3–5 minutes if needed.
