Total Time 30 minutes mins
- 1.5 lbs sirloin or bottom round steak thinly sliced
- 3 tbsp soy sauce divided
- 1 tsp black pepper divided
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil for searing
- 1 large onion cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 red bell pepper chopped
- 1 green bell pepper chopped
- 5 –6 garlic cloves minced
For the Sauce:
- 1 packet brown gravy mix
- 1 cup cold water
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Toss sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Set aside to marinate for at least 10 minutes.
In a small bowl, whisk together all sauce ingredients and set aside.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over high heat. Working in batches, sear beef strips for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
Add another tbsp oil to the skillet. Sauté onions and peppers over medium-high heat for 3–4 minutes.
Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1–2 more minutes.
Return beef to the pan along with any juices. Pour in the sauce.
Stir well and let simmer until sauce thickens and everything is coated, about 2–3 minutes.
Serve hot over rice or noodles.

For more sauce, double the gravy mix and water.
