Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon water

For the Chocolate Fudge Layer

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Pan and Dough

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with foil. Lightly grease.
  • In a large bowl, mix the cookie mix with egg, vegetable oil, and water until a soft dough forms.

Create the Base Layer

  • Press half of the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

Make the Fudge Layer

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter.
  • Stir continuously until melted and smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

Assemble the Bars

  • Pour the warm fudge mixture over the cookie base and spread evenly.
  • Drop the remaining cookie dough over the top in small spoonfuls, leaving some areas of fudge visible.

Bake

  • Bake for about 25 minutes, until the top is lightly golden and set.

Cool and Serve

  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
